    Dust storm affects Central IL counties around I-55

    CENTRAL ILLINOIS (WCIA) — The ongoing dust storm on I-55 is now affecting Sangamon, Morgan, and Logan Counties, Illinois State Police said.

    Officials urge motorists to never drive into a dust storm. Instead, they advise finding an alternate route or waiting for conditions to improve before going out on the road.

    MCLEAN COUNTY, Ill. (WMBD) — Illinois State Police are currently encouraging drivers to find alternate routes after closing part of Interstate 55 in McLean County due to a dust storm on Tuesday.

    ISP rerouting I-74 due to dust storm by Farmer City

    According to The Illinois State Police , Troopers are on the scene near milepost 146 and traffic is closed in both directions.

    Northbound traffic is being rerouted onto Route 136 eastbound, Route 51 northbound, I-74 westbound, I-55 northbound. Southbound traffic is being rerouted onto I-74 eastbound, Route 51 southbound, Route 136 westbound, I-55 southbound.

    The ISP encourages anyone stuck in a dust storm to pull off the road as far as possible and to stop and turn off all of their lights. The trooper said you should not get out of your vehicle and keep your seatbelt on.
