Feeling like summer with sunshine and the 80s Tuesday; rain returns to end the week

Tuesday is another gorgeous day with mostly clear skies. A few clouds roll high in the sky for the afternoon but nothing that will hurt temps. Highs rise into the low to mid 80s with humidity levels in the comfy zone. A light breeze is just the cherry on top.

An isolated shower chance for the ridgeline through Pocahontas & Greenbrier County this evening but most, if not all, will stay dry. A mild night with overnight lows in the low 60s as humidity levels rise.

Wednesday starts nice but an advancing cold front looks to bring clouds by mid day. Highs still manage the upper 70s and low 80s. Winds will pick up out of the southwest 10-15mph into the afternoon as our cold front inches closer. A pop up mountain shower is possible late afternoon.

A few showers and storms are likely into the evening hours but timing looks to be in our favor. Strong storms towards our west will fade as they march east into our region. An isolated thunderstorm has the potential for strong wind gusts and hail but widespread severe weather is not expected.

The hit and miss nature of these pop-up storms will make our interactive radar a very handy tool for you Wednesday night plans. A few showers remain into the overnight with lows in the humid low 60s.

Thursday is shaping up to be a soggy day. Off and on showers roam from west to east as a cold front cross the region. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms will be a safe bet heading into the heat of the day as temps rise into the upper 70s. Severe weather is not expected but a strong storm can still impact your day. Winds 25-30mph under a strong storm with heavy rain will certainly slow the holiday weekend traffic flow. Showers continue much of the night into Friday predawn.

Friday we catch a break in the morning with only an isolated chance of a morning shower. It’ll be steamy with humidity rising. Temps manage to push into the upper 70s as sunshine tries to peek through broken clouds early afternoon. By the evening hours, pop up thunderstorms and showers are expected. A better chance of widespread showers, some heavy at times, for the evening commute. With holiday interstate traffic expected, some care will be needed during heavy rain for travelers. We’ll see rain showers fade a bit for the overnight hours.

Saturday, you guessed it, scattered showers at times will keep the weekend festivities on the soggy side at times. Temps still manage to push into the 80s with a few breaks in the rain. A few thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening will bring heavy rain which may lead to runoff issues and high water concerns. Scattered shower chances remain into the overnight hours.

Sunday will be a warm and muggy day with mostly cloudy skies. We’ll see quite a few dry hours throughout the day but keep the umbrellas close by as a pop-up shower and thunderstorm are possible in the heat of the day. Highs manage the low 80s with that “air you can wear” feel. Our next wave of showers is expected late Sunday night into Monday morning.

Memorial Day, Monday kicks off with widespread showers in the morning through the early afternoon. From there we’ll have scattered showers well into the evening hours. Temperatures manage to push in to the muggy low 80s. A pop up thunderstorm is likely especially later in the evening with showers remaining for the overnight hours.

Tuesday and upper level low pushes in keeping the warmth, humid feel to the day along with gloomy skies and scattered showers. Highs mange to reach the upper 70s but cooler air will follow behind the low. Showers will fade into the overnight as we drop back into the upper 50s and low 60s.

In your extended forecast, we look to start June cooler than we have been but near average in the low 70s. A few sunny days before another soggy pattern begins. Long range signs are pointing to a nice warm up for mid-June so that summer time weather isn’t too far away.
