Chemical fire at Consol Energy plant in East Finley Township causes roof to cave in

Crews were called to a chemical fire at a plant in East Finley Township on Monday morning.

The fire broke out at around 6:20 a.m. at 322 Enon Church Road. Consol’s Bailey Omni Plant is located there.

Thick plumes of black smoke could be seen for miles.

Officials tell Channel 11 that diesel and frothers were burning. The roof of the building caved in.

Fire departments from Washington, Greene and Marshall County, W.Va., were called to the scene.

The fire was under control by 9:30 a.m.

Consol Energy Spokesperson Erica Fisher sent Channel 11 the following statement:

“We are aware of a structure fire that occurred this morning at OMNIS Bailey LLC’s building located in West Finley Township. This incident has no direct impact to CONSOL’s mining operations, preparation plant, or its employees. OMNIS is a third-party project partner who has confirmed to us all employees have been accounted for and no injuries have been sustained. We are thankful for the prompt response from area emergency responders.”
