BOWDRE TOWNSHIP, Ill. (WCIA) – Authorities in Douglas County report that a road has washed out after heavy rain and flooding occurred in the area.

The Bowdre Township Road District reported on Facebook that up to 4″ of rain fell in less than 40 minutes in their area.

The heavy rain caused limbs and fallen trees to land on several area roadways.

In addition, standing and rushing water over some roads caused problems, including hundreds of feet of one road to be washed out.

That road is 1965 E Road between 700 N and 800 N Road where a large culvert was washed out with 200 feet of the road on either side also being washed out.

That road is located east of Hugo, south of Murdock and southeast of Camargo.

Major highways in the region are open and waters have since receded.

Other areas of flash flooding were reported in the Long Creek and Mt. Zion areas in Macon County on Sunday evening.
