HUMPHREYS COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A motorcyclist is reportedly facing multiple charges — including vehicular homicide — following a Friday crash at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch.

According to a crash report provided by the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP), the crash happened at approximately 5:41 p.m. inside the ranch on Friday, May 17.

Per the report, 34-year-old Daniel R. Heman of Indiana, was riding his 2020 Harley Davidson FXS motorcycle down a roadway on the property when he hit a golf cart.

Officials said the golf cart was traveling in front of Heman and went left to avoid hitting a pothole. However, this allegedly led to Heman hitting the left side of the cart, striking a pedestrian who was walking across the roadway, and his motorcycle coming to rest on top of the pedestrian.

According to paperwork sent to News 2 by the Humphreys County Sheriff’s Office, the pedestrian was taken to TriStar Skyline Medical Center with serious injuries, but she was “pronounced brain dead” shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 18.

THP identified the pedestrian who died as 55-year-old Kellie Goodman of South Carolina.

Even though Heman said he did not have anything to drink, a trooper reportedly noticed the smell of alcohol, a swaying gait, slurred speech, and glassy eyes. In addition, the field sobriety tests showed signs of impairment, per the documents from the sheriff’s office.

Meanwhile, the golf cart’s occupants — described by THP as a 44-year-old driver from Oregon, a 45-year-old passenger from Maryland, and a 37-year-old passenger from Maryland — were not wearing seatbelts, but they were not injured and are not expected to face any charges.

Based on the paperwork News 2 received from the sheriff’s office on Saturday, Heman was initially charged with driving under the influence and vehicular assault, resulting in a $102,000 bond. However, he is now charged with DUI and vehicular homicide, according to THP’s crash report from Sunday, May 19. There is no word on his current bond amount.

No additional details have been released about this incident.
