According to a recent civil lawsuit filed by singer Cassie , Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs reportedly paid $50,000 to the InterContinental Hotel for the hallway footage that captured him physically assaulting her during a March 2016 altercation, per @people.
As we previously reported, on Friday, CNN released a disturbing surveillance video showing Cassie Ventura, now 37, leaving a hotel room and heading towards an elevator as Diddy now 54, runs down on her in the hallway wearing only a towel. Combs then violently grabs her by the neck, causing her to fall to the ground. In a shocking display of aggression, Combs proceeds to kick Cassie while she lies still before snatching her purse and suitcase.
In the footage, Cassie remains on the ground as Combs kicks her once more and pulls her by her hoodie, dragging her briefly down the hallway before releasing her and taking her belongings. Shortly after, Combs comes back to grab Ventura near the elevator and then sits in a nearby chair, picking up an object from a table and throwing it at her. As he walks away, Combs turns back towards Ventura when the elevator door opens and someone exits.
Ventura’s attorney Douglas H. Wigdor released a statement about the shocking footage.
“The gut-wrenching video has only further confirmed the disturbing and predatory behavior of Mr. Combs. Words cannot express the courage and fortitude that Ms. Ventura has shown in coming forward to bring this to light.”
In another statement also shared with PEOPLE, IHG Hotels responded to the footage. “This hotel is no longer under IHG management, and we do not have any access to prior incident records or footage.”
Ventura’s lawsuit, filed in November and obtained by PEOPLE, provided a detailed account of the hotel incident, alleging that… “In or around March 2016, during an FO [“freak off”] at the InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles, Mr. Combs became extremely intoxicated and punched Ms. Ventura in the face, giving her a black eye.”
The 35-page complaint, filed under the Adult Survivors Act, a New York law that permits sexual abuse victims to file civil suits within a one-year window after the statute of limitations has expired, also asserted that, “After [Combs] fell asleep, Ms. Ventura tried to leave the hotel room, but as she exited, Mr. Combs awoke and began screaming at Ms. Ventura. He followed her into the hallway of the hotel while yelling at her. He grabbed at her, and then took glass vases in the hallway and threw them at her, causing glass to crash around them as she ran to the elevator to escape.”
