I say it alll the time – I’m not sure how I survived homelessness. Colorado Coalition for the Homeless played a big part. More on that later. Now a chilling new study shows homeless people face 3.5 times the likelihood of dying than housed people. In a shocking twist from conventional wisdom, the study showed white homeless people had a 40% higher likelihood of dying than Black homeless people. This is significant because numerous studies have shown Black people are more likely to become homeless than white people, and also are at a disadvantage among housed populations.
