It’s time for the most exciting game a newspaper can play, ‘Find The Golden Ticket.’ Get ready to embark on a thrilling adventure as we bring the magic of Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory to life in Shelby County, Texas.
“Find The Golden Ticket” has come to Shelby County and is starting now. Inspired by Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory, 1971, Mr. Wonka hides five golden tickets within his famous candy bars for five very lucky children to find. Once found, the child is granted admittance into the fabulous chocolate factory, and for one fortunate young boy named Charlie, the adventure would change his life forever, along with his family, when Mr. Wonka promises to hand over the keys to the factory.
Within the pages of The Light in Champion for the following 12 issues, special golden tickets will be randomly hidden on newsstands all over Shelby County. Find one of these tickets, and you win.
Splash Kingdom in Nacogdoches has donated 250 general admission tickets for Shelby County citizens to enjoy a day at the premier East Texas waterpark. That’s right, get in for free; all you have to do is find a golden ticket. Here are some clues...
The tickets will never be hidden in a coin-operated rack. They will be hidden on Thursday mornings between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. If you catch an Oompa Loompa hiding the tickets, they may be asked for a golden ticket, but seeing an Oompa Loompa will take great luck.
Once you have found a Golden Ticket, you must return the ticket to The Light and Champion to verify it is accurate and to claim your prize. There are three types of Golden Tickets. First is a Golden Ticket worth 2 General Admission Tickets to Splash Kingdom. Another worth 4 and the granddaddy winner, a family pack of 6 tickets to the Splash Kingdom.
The Light and Champion can not sell additional tickets to the park. However, you can jump online and buy extra tickets from the Splach Kingdom website at: https://www.splashkingdomwaterpark . com/ Other rules include that it must be an original ticket and claimed only at The Light and Champion office at 137 San Augustine St., Center, Texas. Claim hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Once admitted, all park rules must be followed. A person can only win once. Employees of the Light and Champion Newspaper, Champion Printing, and Northeast Texas Publishing are ineligible to play and win. The last rule: have fun!
