(Adair Co) The Adair County Board of Supervisors this afternoon approved the sale of the $5,000,000 General Obligation Urban Renewal Bonds, Series 2024, to Hilltop Securities of Dallas, Texas.

Maggie Burger, with Speer Financial, said they took bids this (Wednesday) morning.

Burger said as part of this they did have a ratings call with Moody’s Investors Service.

The $5,000,000 General Obligation Urban Renewal Bonds are for essential county urban renewal purposes, to provide funds to pay the costs of aiding in the planning, undertaking, and carrying out of urban renewal projects under the authority of chapter 403 including; P33 Resurfacing – P33 from Highway 92 to Union County, and Grading & Paving – 290th Street from P33 west to the Henry A. Wallace Country Life Center, as authorized in Amendment No. 2 to the Adair County Northwest Wind Farm Urban Renewal Plan.

In other action, the Supervisors approved an Attorney Engagement Agreement with Maria Brownell, with Ahlers & Cooney P.C., for Commercial and Industrial Development Regulations. Supervisor Matt Wedemeyer said he reached out to Maria after last week’s meeting to talk to her about where they are at with not having any zoning and what the County can and cannot do.

Supervisor Jodie Hoadley said if they can do an ordinance that will cover setbacks then that is fine, but if they can’t then they need to work on zoning. She said there are people that would volunteer to be on a Zoning Board if they need one.

The Supervisors also approved a resolution to set a public hearing to vacate a portion of 277th Lane for May 22nd at 9:30 a.m. It was noted that they would like to vacate 187 feet west of the intersection so they can maintain the easement that the Engineer’s Office purchased when they replaced the bridge in 2002.
