Swope fails in State Senate re-election bid, Hart picks up win

CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Change was in the air on Tuesday as multiple Republican incumbent State Senators were unsuccessful in their bids for re-election – Senator Chandler Swope having been among them.

Having represented the 6th district since 2017, the 81-year-old Republican was successfully defeated by educator and Republican challenger Craig A. Hart

Throughout his campaign, Hart declared support for biblical and conservative values, as well as former United States President and current candidate for United States President, Donald Trump.

Tuesday’s win will bring Hart to the November General Election where he will face off against Democratic candidate Randy Fowler, who secured the Democratic nomination for the 6th District following an unopposed run.

District 6 comprises Mercer County as well as portions of McDowell, Mingo, and Wayne Counties.
