Henrico County Public Schools will take part in the U.S. Department of Agriculture Summer Food Service Program, providing free meals at 24 locations to children who need them most during the summer break.

The program will begin at some locations June 3 and will run through Aug. 1 at some locations. It will be available to children ages 18 and younger, accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

The program is funded by the USDA and administered by Henrico County Schools to ensure that children have access to nutritious meals when school is not in session. Parents and guardians are not eligible for the free meal service. Meals are not available to go and must be consumed on site.

Meals will be served on a first-come, first-served basis and will be available from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. for breakfast and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for lunch. All sites will be closed on Wednesday, June 19 and Thursday, July 4 in recognition of Juneteenth and Independence Day holidays.
