BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — Two drivers and a passenger have been heavily injured after a collision led to one vehicle being engulfed in flames on the afternoon of Saturday, May 11.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, at approximately 2:20 P.M, a Ram pickup was traveling Northbound on County Road 1 while a Ford G150 was headed eastbound on 77th Street Southeast. The Ford then failed to yield at the marked intersection, which caused it to strike the Ram.

The two vehicles came to rest in the northeast ditch, after which the Ram pickup became engulfed in flames. The driver and passenger of the Ram (a 67-year-old man from Wahpeton and a 77-year-old woman from Mooreton) were able to escape the vehicle prior to its combustion, but sustained serious injuries as a result of the accident.

The driver of the Ford — a 29-year-old man from Mooreton — was also severely injured in the crash. He is being charged with Failing to Yield at a Marked Intersection.

The accident currently remains under investigation.
