The State of South Carolina has recognized a very special Upstate man, who we at WORD call colleague and friend.
From launching his own Insurance Agency at the age of 22, to becoming an influential political broadcaster, The South Carolina General Assembly passed House Resolution Bill 5485 to recognize and honor Mr. Joey Hudson for his lifetime of achievements and to thank him for his dedicated service to his church, community and beyond.

House Resolution Bill 5485 below:
South Carolina General Assembly
125th Session, 2023-2024
Bill 5485
A HOUSE RESOLUTION TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR JOEY HUDSON FOR HIS LIFETIME OF ACHIEVEMENTS AND TO THANK HIM FOR HIS DEDICATED SERVICE TO HIS CHURCH, COMMUNITY, AND BEYOND.
Whereas, Joey Hudson's professional journey is a vivid tapestry of adaptation and success across diverse fields. As an entrepreneur at 22, Joey launched his own insurance agency serving South Carolina's Upstate. Under his guidance, for the next thirty-six years the agency became a trusted
name, known for its ethical standards, client-focused services, and innovative approach to insurance solutions; and
Whereas, in 2004, Joey decided it was time to follow his passion for politics more directly and embarked on a second career in radio broadcasting. His affiliation with the nationally syndicated Mike Gallagher Show led to the creation of Gallagher's Heroes: Fallen Officer Fund, which has helped more
than six hundred families with $1.8 million in financial assistance and distributed more than sixty thousand Bibles to first responders around the country; and
Whereas, within a few years of producing, and contributing to, Mike's national radio show, Joey found it a natural transition to host his own show on 94.5 WGTK, The Morning Answer With Joey Hudson, heard throughout the Carolinas and Northeast Georgia; and
Whereas, Joey's deep understanding of political issues, combined with his knack for clear and engaging communication, quickly earned him a devoted listenership. Joey's ability to connect dots across complex issues and his fearless approach to questioning norms resonated deeply with his loyal
audience; and
Whereas, today, Joey continues to inspire with his versatile talents and unwavering commitment to broadcasting. His journey from insurance to radio exemplifies how a deep-seated passion can redefine one's life and career. His relentless pursuit of honesty and transparency in politics plus his deep love
for the community and nation continue to resonate with audiences across multiple media platforms; and
Whereas, in preparation for his career, Joey Hudson earned his bachelor's degree at Winthrop University in political science and also studied at the University of South Carolina and the University of the South (Sewanee School of Theology); and
Whereas, he has been honored with numerous awards from Crime Stoppers of Greenville and the Southeastern Crime Stoppers Association and has received various other recognitions, including Greenville's Best and Brightest Award from Greenville Business Magazine, as well as the Fourth District Congressional Club Lifetime Achievement Award for 2024; and
Whereas, further, Joey serves on the Project Care Board of Directors (1994 to present) and Tucker W. Hipps Memorial Foundation Board of Directors (2016 to present). As a man of faith, he serves the Lord as a lay Eucharist minister at Christ Episcopal Church.
Now, therefore, Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor Joey Hudson for his lifetime of achievements and thank him for his dedicated service to his church, community, and beyond. Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Joey Hudson.
