If you regularly use services like Instacart and Uber Eats, then you know that they can be convenient for today's fast-paced world. They could also be better by being more streamlined.

Now, the two companies have teamed up to make that happen.

    This is a Game Changer

Uber and Instacart announced a new partnership, which will give Instacart users access to Uber Eats restaurant delivery services right in the Instacart app. That means you don't need two different apps to get the deliveries you want!

According to a press release by Uber, users will click on the new “Restaurants” tab in the Instacart app to choose from nearby restaurants to order from and browse their menus. Users can place orders and track delivery, just as they can in the Uber Eats app.

“Our goal is to make it effortless for people to go anywhere and get anything,” Dara Khosrowshahi, the CEO of Uber, shared in a statement. “We’re excited that this new strategic partnership with Instacart will bring the magic of Uber Eats to even more consumers, drive more business for restaurants, and create more earnings opportunities for couriers.”

Users will still be able to order groceries in the Instacart app, and Instacart+ members will get to enjoy $0 delivery fees on grocery and restaurant orders over $35. These two apps in one will allow users to have groceries fulfilled and delivered by Instacart shoppers, and take-out orders fulfilled and delivered by Uber.

“Through this partnership, Instacart customers now have access to both the best online grocery selection in the U.S. and restaurant delivery, making it even easier for them to conveniently tackle all their food needs from a single app,” Fidji Simo, CEO and chair of Instacart, added in the statement. “Whether it’s ingredients for a beloved family recipe, a prepared meal from a nearby grocer or takeout from a favorite restaurant – customers can now get the food they want, from the retailers and restaurants they love, all within the Instacart app.”

    What About Pricing?

According to Uber, customers won't see higher prices in the Instacart app and delivery drivers will see the same payout, no matter how customers order.

This is an interesting merger, considering that the two companies have competed in the past over grocery delivery. Uber said in the release that this partnership is a way to “drive more sales through an even more engaging Instacart experience,” which, in turn, means bigger profits.

The change should appear in the Instacart app in the coming weeks.
