Cooler weather and chance of rain for Thursday

• Rain and cooler weather on the way the next few days

FORECAST: Storm Team Meteorologist Michele Powers says a warm front has now moved north of us. This means the atmosphere is ripe for strong storms as a cold front approaches tonight. We're keeping a close eye on Litchfield and Northern Fairfield Counties for a little more development into this evening. The main threat will be damaging winds and hail. Remember when thunder roars - go indoors. The sky will be partly cloudy late, with temperatures falling back into the middle 50s.

It will be cooler Thursday with a change in wind direction. Instead of 70s and 80s, highs temperatures will only make it to the upper 60s. More rain will come in later in the day tomorrow and it will be on and off for Friday.

Rain will start to clear for Saturday but then move back in for Sunday. Friday is cool and so is the weekend.

COASTAL FLOODING: The National Weather Service has issued a coastal flood advisory for SW Fairfield County tonight. 11 p.m-2 a.m. for some brief, minor flooding during tonight's high tide cycle. Up to 1 foot of inundation possible. Due to the new moon and tides running high.

FRIDAY: Cloudy and cooler with on and off rain. High of 55.

SATURDAY: Partly sunny after some early showers south. High of 60.

SUNDAY: Cloudy with rain showers returning. High of 61.

MONDAY: Mostly sunny. High of 70.

TUESDAY: Partly sunny. High of 70.

WEDNESDAY: Mostly cloudy with showers. High of 67.
