    3 Breathitt County student-athletes injured in crash

    JACKSON, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — Three Breathitt County students were involved in a serious crash on Monday.

    According to the Jackson police chief, it happened around 6 p.m. on Jett’s Drive near the Landmark of Breathitt retirement and assisted-living facility, where a car with three males inside hit a tree.

    The police chief told FOX 56 News that the car, driven by Ethan Bowling, hit a tree. Passengers Kylan and Kory Combs, who are brothers, had to be extracted.

    All three students were taken to the Jackson Emergency Room and were later transferred to UK Hospital. Authorities said that at the time of the accident, one of the students was in stable condition and the others were in critical condition.

    According to the KHSAA Breathitt County Team Audit, Ethan, Kory, and Kylan were all student-athletes at Breathitt County High School.

    Breathitt County High School Football shared a post on Facebook after the community gathered for a prayer vigil in honor of the three students.

    “Thank you to everyone who came to our prayer vigil and those who couldn’t but joined us hand in hand to pray for our 3 wonderful young men, Kory Combs, Kylan Combs, and Ethan Bowling. We love you, boys! And we know that God has his hand on you,” the post read. “Please continue to pray for our boys!”

    In a Facebook post, the department said the road was shut down until 10 p.m.

    The crash remains under investigation.
