The MPSSAA announced the opening round matchups for this year’s boys’ and girls’ lacrosse regional playoffs, which are set to begin on Wednesday.

With only four teams in the respective regions, all Cecil County programs — both boys and girls — earned an automatic berth to the region semifinals.

1A East Region I Girls’ Lacrosse

Rising Sun girls’ lacrosse (6-5) sits atop its region and will host No. 4 Elkton (4-8). After dropping its first two games of the regular season, Rising Sun won six of its last nine games. No. 2 Perryville (6-6) will host No. 3 North East (5-6). The Panthers were 4-0 in matchups against county opponents this spring. The winners of the two matchups will meet in the regional finals.

1A East Region II Girls’ Lacrosse

Bohemia Manor (3-8) is the No. 2 seed and will host No. 3 Cambridge-South Dorchester (2-8). The winner will face No. 1 Southern-Anne Arundel (4-8) or No. 4 Kent County (2-10) in the regional finals.

1A East Region I Boys’ Lacrosse

Perryville (9-2) is once again the top-seed in its region. After a season-opening loss to Havre de Grace, the Panthers rattled off nine straight wins in the month of April. Perryville will host No. 4 Elkton (2-10). Rising Sun (7-5) is the two-seed in the region and will host No. 3 North East (3-9). Perryville is undefeated in county play this spring, while Rising Sun’s only loss in the county came against the Panthers.

1A East Region II Boys’ Lacrosse

Bohemia Manor finished the regular season tied with Kent County atop the region standings. The Eagles and Trojans ended with records of 6-6. Kent County received the top-seed in the region, as the Trojans hold a tie-breaker over Bo Manor in head-to-head matchups. Kent defeated Bo in the pair’s only regular season meeting. The No. 2 Eagles will host No. 3 Southern-Anne Arundel (4-8). The winner will face either No. 1 Kent County or No. 4 Cambridge-South Dorchester (1-8).

State playoff action for boys’ and girls’ lacrosse starts on May 15. This year’s state finals will be hosted at Stevenson University from May 21 to May 23.
