These rare quadruplets have become local celebrities. Mark van Haastert says a cow on his ranch birthed the calves on April 19. His kids named one of the calves Nobody, earning the mother the name Somebody. The others are named after colours — Orangela, Bluethany and Greenelope. Erin van Haastert shared with the news organization that while checking on the animals at her ranch in Saskatchewan, she came across a cow that had given birth to two calves.

She told the news organization that when she went to move the calves into the barn, she realized the mom had given birth to a third.

Erin moved the three calves into the barn, and when her husband Mark went to help mama cow, who is named Somebody, into the barn, she saw a fourth calf had been born.

According to CBC, who spoke with the Western College of Veterinary Medicine, a cow having a quadruple birth is about a one in 700,000 chance. However, to have all four calves live, like Somebody's babies, it's a 1 in 11.2 million chance.

All four calves are alive and doing well. They're estimated to be approximately one month early and weigh around 45 to 50 pounds each.

The news organization reported that they were given hormones after birth because their breathing "was a bit raspy and stressed."

The four calves are doing well, though Erin told the news organization they have "an uphill battle" since they're premature. They've been given some milk supplementation and are doing really well so far.

They've also given names to the cows chosen by the van Haasters. The four calves are now named Orangala, Greenlop, Bluthany, and Nobody. Erin shared that she believes they are two sets of identical twins.

Interesting Facts About Cow Pregnancy, Birth, and Baby Calves

According to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, cows are also pregnant for nine months, just like people.

"Gestation length does vary by breed and by sex of the calf. Gestation length ranges from 279 to 287 days," the site explains. "For most breeds, 283 days would be common. Cows carrying bull calves tend to have a slightly longer gestation than cows carrying heifer calves."

According to Farm Credit Knowledge Center , calves are generally born in the fall or spring, but they can be pregnant all year long. At birth, most calves weigh between 65 and 90 pounds. The babies stay with their mom for six to nine months. When calves are finally weaned, they will weigh between 500 and 700 pounds

According to Golden Calf Company , baby cows can walk and stand right after birth, and some can even "moo" already.

" Calves are born without an immune system, which is why it's so important they get colostrum quickly after birth." Colostrum is the first milk after birth
