Hot with more sun the next few days, storm chances return late in the week

Partly sunny skies are anticipated for this afternoon with south winds in the 10-15 mph range and high temperatures topping out in the mid-upper 80s. A little more sunshine is expected today with storm chances in the more isolated (20%) range.

Hotter temperatures for tomorrow and Wednesday with more sunshine and highs in the upper 80s to near 90 degrees. This is as the jet stream, which has been giving us all the unsettled weather, retreats to the north temporarily.

A wave of energy will move in Thursday night and Friday, however, giving us our next rain chance. An upper-level shortwave trough will move through, also being strong enough to push a weak surface front through the area. This will lead to a brief cooldown for both Friday and Saturday, with highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s and lows in the low-mid 60s Saturday and Sunday morning.

Another strong disturbance approaches the area by Sunday, giving us our next widespread storm threat.
