Sabrina Ionescu Slams WNBA Over Missed Opportunity to Stream Angel Reese's Debut

Caitlin Clark's WNBA preseason debut was all over the internet Friday night. So was Angel Reese's debut, right? Unfortunately, fans couldn't find it on the WNBA League Pass. There's a reason for that.

The WNBA didn't stream Reese's debut. It was a shockingly bad omission by the league. Reese is easily the second biggest name in women's college basketball right now behind No. 1 overall pick Caitlin Clark. The WNBA clearly feels differently, though.

A fan in attendance live-streamed the Chicago Sky's preseason game on their iPhone, and it reportedly had hundreds of thousands of viewers. The WNBA dropped the ball, and that's a pretty disappointing development for WNBA star Sabrina Ionescu.

Ionescu slammed the WNBA for the oversight and called for better representation of all its players during the New York Liberty's Media Day on Saturday.

“I mean, it sucks," Ionescu said. “I think representation of every team is important. … Hopefully, the league can fix that because I think they dropped the ball on that part and hopefully they have a great explanation as to why that wasn’t televised. But hats off to the person that just figured it out.”

The WNBA now has its own stars calling the league out because coverage is sub par. See the problem?

The WNBA has long asked for fans to pay more attention to the league. Better exposure means more money, and more money means a better product. But the WNBA has to hold up its end of the bargain by providing league-wide access, even if it's only the preseason.

Angel Reese deserves better. Hopefully, Ionescu's message to the WNBA turns a few heads and sparks change.
