A hit-and-run survivor shared the reason she pulled through after being injured by a truck, and one of her best defenses might surprise you! First off, the young woman was wearing a helmet at the time, which helped to protect her head against the collision. However, her spine was saved by a MacBook, which she happened to be carrying in her backpack! She explained on TikTok that the device acted like an “armor plate” during the accident.

In her post, the hit-and-run survivor shared some photos from her recovery in the hospital. Although her ribs were broken and she suffered some serious bruising, the situation could have been so much worse!

“Ok but like I look pretty good for someone hit by a truck,” she captioned one of her hospital pictures.

The hit-and-run survivor is grateful her laptop took the brunt of the accident.

Her TikTok post also included some images of the items that saved her. They’re in pretty bad shape! First, she shared a brief clip of her helmet, which was barely still holding together. Then, she showed a couple of photos of her irreparably bent MacBook. However, the hit-and-run survivor was really happy that these items were in worse shape than her! She tagged Apple in the caption of her post, letting them know that their device kept her from being even more severely injured.

“@apple your product is quite literally a lifesaver, although now completely destroyed,” she wrote. “But my spine is grateful for the sacrifice.”

This wouldn’t be the first time that someone credited the laptop in their backpack with saving their life. In 2017, Steve Frappier told CNN that he survived the tragic shooting at the Fort Lauderdale airport due to the device in his bag.

“I felt something hit my back,” Steve recalled. “It was only later when I went to the bathroom to check myself out that the bullet had entered my backpack, hit my laptop and then later when I gave my backpack over to the FBI for investigation they found the bullet in the pocket of my backpack.”

How incredibly lucky for both of these survivors that they happened to have their laptops in their backpacks! Who knew that these items would prove so useful in a life-or-death situation?
