MECKLENBURG COUNTY ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — A deck collapsed at a home in the Dixie-Berryhill area and sent nine people to the hospital on Saturday.

One person has life-threatening injuries, another has serious injuries and 7 others have minor injuries, according to the Mecklenburg EMS Agency (MEDIC).

First responders say three more people declined an ambulance ride to the hospital after being hurt.

Emergency crews got the call from Hadlow Court near the Berryhill Nature Preserve around 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 4.

The West Mecklenburg Volunteer Fire Department says they believe those hurt fell 10 to 15 feet when the deck collapsed.

The firefighters say the deck spans the whole length of the house on the back, and they don’t yet know what caused it to collapse in the middle.
