Al Reszel started riding his bike north from the Florida Keys on March 23, to kick off his seventh cross-country journey and solo bicycle ride in support of his wife Terry, a breast cancer survivor.

The 65-year-old Reszel has so far traveled 20,100 miles and raised more than $60,000 for breast cancer research. His wife, Terry, follows Al on the route in a vehicle in the role of supporter, comforter, and cheerleader as they both talk to thousands of people they meet along the way.

“We've done seven rides across the country and this will be the first one through Wisconsin that we've ridden in,” Al Reszel said. “The people we meet, the weather we ride in, mechanical issues, it's quite an adventure.”

Reszel reached Sault Ste Marie, Ontario on May 1 and is now heading west through Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, and come through Price County on May 7 from Mercer via County Road F and anticipates arriving in Butternut around noon on where he will head north on State Highway 13 to Glidden, and then west to Clam Lake and Hayward via State Highway 77.

Terry’s Ride is the namesake annual event to support Pink Pedals 4 A Cure and The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Reszel has so far pedaled through Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, Kentucky, Tennessee, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, and Ontario Canada. When the ride is completed Reszel will have ridden through 12 states and two countries, traversing 4,100 miles over 49 days, before arriving in Albany, Minnesota, on May 12 for Mother’s Day.

At the end of the 2024 ride, Al Reszel will have logged 24,400 miles in the saddle of his bike, closing in on 24,901 miles which equates to the earth’s circumference.

For years now, Al and Terry Reszel have been crisscrossing the country with the goal of raising awareness and donations for breast cancer research. Their organization, Pink Pedals For A Cure | Terry’s Ride was founded in 2016 and their sole donation benefactor is the BCRF.

Reszel speaks to many people along his route and said he hears similar stories from others that show the common thread of interest in his ride that stirs people to donate or to thank them for what they are doing.
