The Mille Lacs Raiders softball team split a pair of Great River Conference games last week to bring their overall record to 1-4.

    East Central

The Mille Lacs Raiders hosted the East Central Eagles in a conference game on April 23. The Raiders scored runs in every inning, scoring 13 times on 15 hits on the way to a 13-3 win in a game called after five innings because of the 10-run rule.

Brooklyn Orazem picked up the win on the mound going 4.1 innings giving up just one run on 3 hits and stuck out seven.

Offensive stars in the rout were Ashley Strang, who went 4-4 at the plate including two home runs and had 5 RBI. Annah Ludwig went 3-4 with two RBI, followed by Jenna Carlson, Mariah Remer, Paige Strecker and Aria Mueller with two hits apiece, including a triple by Mueller.

    Braham

It was a tough loss the Raiders softball team incurred on April 25 when they bowed to the Braham Bombers, 7-5 in seven innings. Tough, because the Raiders out-hit the Bombers 11-4, but defensively they committed six errors which didn’t help their cause. In fact, starting pitcher, Brooklyn Orazem gave up all seven runs, but none were earned due to the multiple errors her teammates committed in the field.

Leading Mille Lacs on offense were Mariah Remer who went 3-4 at the plate, followed by Paige Strecker and Orazem who each had two hits.
