The Nation's Weather for Saturday, May 4, 2024

    NATIONAL SUMMARY

Thunderstorms from northern Texas and southern Oklahoma into

southwestern Arkansas and far northwestern Louisiana can

bring flash flooding, large hail and damaging wind gusts

today. Just to the north, heavy rain will be the primary

hazard with thunderstorms in southern Missouri and northern

and central Arkansas. Rain and snow will expand in the West,

and travel conditions will rapidly worsen due to low

visibility and slippery roads with the snow in the highest

elevation of the Sierra. Showers will ramp up over the

Appalachians and reach the mid-Atlantic coast at night with

soaking rain. Afternoon thundershowers will rumble in the

mountains of Colorado and New Mexico. The rest of the

Southwest, northern Rockies, northern Plains and most of New

England can expect a dry day.
