MEDORA, ND ( KXNET ) — The Billings County Sheriff Office recently alerted the public of an ongoing scam in which callers are posing as representatives from Dish Network to elicit bank account information.

Dish Network subscribers in the billings area are being called and told they need to update/upgrade their equipment; the caller asks for id numbers, pins, Dish Login information and other information.

‘Arrest warrant’ scam circulating in the area

The caller tells the unsuspecting victim that they will receive a credit on future bills, then tells the victim they owe x amount of money for the upgrade, asking for checking or credit card information.

Dish is aware of these scams and has advised that they they do not and will not ask a customer for personal information (pins, login information…).

If you receive such a call, please hang up and contact Dish at the phone number provided on your statement/bill/contract.
