The Dickey Foundation awards grant to Montgomery County Sheriff's Office to purchase tactical drones

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Kan. — The Dickey Foundation, the nonprofit arm of Dickey's Barbecue Pit, awarded a $11,000 matching grant to Montgomery County Sheriff's Office (MGSO), which supported the purchase of law-enforcement specific drones used for interior tactical operations.

With the foundation's assistance, MGSO was able to buy two LEMUR 2 Drones and two BRINC Balls. MGSO said BRINC is an American company that leverages technology to de-escalate dangerous situations.

The drones provide an added layer of safety for officers responding to emergency situations.

The Dickey Foundation, founded in 1941, is an organization which looks to provide additional funding to local organizations, but specifically first responders.

The Dickey Foundation issued the following statement on Facebook.

Montgomery County Sheriff Ron Wade posted the following message on Facebook.

"We at the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team (SWAT team) would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Dickey's Barbecue Pit and the Dickey's Foundation out of Dallas, TX for their generous support in funding our new drone.
