JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — A jury in Onslow County found a Duplin County man guilty of three felony charges on Thursday.

Roland Young was sentenced to a minimum of 160 months (13 years, 4 months) and a maximum of 204 months (17 months) in the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction. His charges were felony larceny, felony possession of stolen goods and felony attempted obtaining property by false pretense. Young had three prior felony convictions.

Young pled guilty to the sale of fentanyl and other drug offenses. He is already serving a sentence for a prior conviction. His new sentencing will start at the end of the prior. It amounts to 342 months (28.5 years) of time in prison.

The sentencing stems from Young stealing jewelry that amounted to $14,000 from Hollywood Pawn and Jewelry in Richlands. The crime happened on August 25, 2022. Young was easily identified due to his stealing the wallet of the owner of Hollywood Pawn and Jewelry in Jacksonville a year prior, according to the District Attorney’s office.
