WAYNE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – One man has been arrested after police discovered a large quantity of meth during a traffic stop.

According to Wayne County Sheriff Rick Thompson, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Drug Enforcement Unit conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the Westmoreland area.

After making contact with the occupants, the front passenger, Gene Dowdy, refused to step out of the vehicle, according to police.

While being removed from the vehicle Dowdy began reaching into his pockets and attempted to hide a large ziplock bag containing Methamphetamine.

Dowdy is charged with Conspiracy to Distribute 5 to 50 grams of Methamphetamine, Possession with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine, and Obstructing an Officer.

Sheriff Thompson says more arrests are pending in this investigation.

Officers with the Kenova and Ceredo Police Departments assisted in searching the vehicle.
