A Martin County murder is gaining national attention eight years later, and an ABC "20/20" episode is shining new light on the case tonight.

"The Hungryland Homicide" will explore the timeline of when 30-year-old Tricia Todd was last seen alive and how her ex-husband, Steven Williams, murdered her in 2016.

The episode will feature interviews with Todd's family members, best friend, Martin County Sheriff's Office personnel and State Attorney Tom Bakkedahl of the 19th Judicial Circuit, according to a news release.

Who was Tricia Todd?

Todd was last seen alive April 26, 2016. Sheriff’s officials began an extensive search for the Treasure Coast Hospice nurse in the Hobe Sound area, around where she lived with her brother, the next day after she didn’t pick up her and Williams’ 4-year-daughter, Faith, from a babysitter.

Almost a month into the search, on May 25, 2016, Williams confessed to killing his ex-wife. Williams struck a plea deal to avoid life in prison.

As part of Williams' plea deal was his agreement to show sheriff's officials the location of Todd's body. He took them to an area in the John C. and Mariana Jones/Hungryland Wildlife and Environmental Area in Martin and Palm Beach counties, where they dug up a container filled with acid and partial remains believed to be Todd's.

They also found a chainsaw, a reciprocating saw and pliers that might have been used in Todd's death, as well as nine human teeth, TCPalm reported in 2016.

What happened to Steven Williams?

Williams was found guilty Sept. 30, 2016, of second-degree murder and ordered to serve 35 years in prison as part of a previous plea deal.

He was transferred from the Martin County Jail to the Central Florida Reception Center near Orlando in October 2016, and currently is serving his sentence in the Jefferson Correctional Institution in Monticello. His expected release date is Jan. 12, 2049.
