‘People are unbelievable,’ fumes Costco member after witnessing woman get full refund on 3/4 eaten pecan pie

COSTCO shoppers hit out at a customer after she returned - and got a refund for - a partially eaten pie days after a major holiday.

A major draw of shopping at Costco is the store's generous, 100% satisfaction guaranteed policy.

It allows shoppers to return virtually any product if they decide it doesn't meet their standards.

Unfortunately, the policy has resulted in some crazy returns of items that were bought years ago or are obviously used.

In a Reddit post on the r/Costco subreddit, shoppers discussed the most insane returns they ever witnessed.

"At Costco, a lady returned a 3/4 eaten pecan pie two days after Thanksgiving and said “it was too sweet,"" wrote on person.

"Costco associate took it and processed the refund while I shot a ‘are you f**king serious’ look at her and she looked at me with a smug grin.

"That was my first experience with the Costco return policy. People are unbelievable."

But some shoppers defended the decision.

"I mean, maybe 5 different people got slices at once, and all said it was too sweet; at least that's within a week of purchase," wrote one person.

The original poster replied, "It's a pecan pie. It's sweet by design."

Another customer wrote: "This is exactly what happened to me...big expensive sweet potato pie too. I couldn’t even judge it… I hate sweet potatoes. 8 slices, right into the trash."

    "I should've returned it."

    PARTY POOPER

Another Costco shopper went a step further than returning an unfinished pie when they returned the leftovers of a holiday dinner for 30 people.

A member described witnessing the return in a post on Reddit, calling it "absolutely nuts."

"I was walking by membership/returns on my way to the food court and noticed not just one, but two whole turkey carcasses," the shopper wrote.

"Along with obviously opened boxes of stuffing, two cans of six-pack (or whatever qty they were in) of cranberry sauce, silverware, plates, etc.

"Basically, the leftovers of a full-on meal and all accessories for 20-30 people, obviously eaten and returned.

"I had to stop dead in my tracks....come to find out, the customer said they 'weren't happy with the purchase,' and per policy, was refunded."

    A WARNING TO SHOPPERS

Despite the leniency of the return policy, customers who take advantage of it could have their memberships revoked.

A Reddit user who claimed to be an employee explained how a shopper's account was flagged after making too many returns.

"When I worked there, a woman would bring in a bag of oranges where two or three were bad, and the rest were gone," they wrote.

"This happened every month or so.

"After about six months, her account was flagged, and she was given a choice to return her membership or accept the fact that oranges go bad if you don’t eat them fast enough."

Another shopper described the trouble they had getting a refund after they were delivered an empty box instead of their Costco purchase.

And one customer did something despicable after their return of a 15-year-old sofa was denied.
