Slick quad bike has top speed of 250 mph

An eye-popping new vehicle could be perfect for Clarkson's Farm - a 250mph quad bike.

The Engler V12 looks like a Lotus with the roof removed and claims 0-62 mph in under 2.4 seconds.

Slovakian firm Superquad says brave buyers will have an option to purchase an engine upgrade option to achieve 1200 HP, on a par with a Bugatti Chiron.

Weighing 1,200 kg, the V12 features an 8-speed dual-clutch in what Superquad calls the lightest gearbox ever used in a road-legal car.

The company says the gear system is undergoing rigorous testing in various cars on tracks, but expects to soon commence their own tests "in normal traffic".

The firm is currently keeping the engine "a closely guarded secret", to be revealed within the next 12 months, and has not released a price or buy date.

Viktor Engler, CEO of Engler, says: "In an era dominated by discussions of downsizing, reduced cylinder counts, disappearing engine displacements, and the rise of hybrid vehicles, we've chosen to take a different path. We proudly introduce the Engler V12."

He adds: "We won't stop till we're legends."
