Retailers throughout Shelby County have been receiving “InForce” since Tuesday. The new publication from The Light and Champion was scheduled to be released on May 1, 2024.

‘For the very first one, I wanted to show our appreciation to all our subscribers,’ said General Manager Dennis Phillips, the driving force behind the new publication. ‘So, I decided to insert InForce into the newspaper, a small token of our gratitude.’

InForce allows the newspaper to highlight and focus on law enforcement in Shelby County in a way that is only possible with a stand-alone monthly magazine. “There is a lot of law enforcement news, and in this day and age, law enforcement agencies are underappreciated,” said Phillips. “This is a great way to highlight all that the men and women tasked with our protection and safety do daily.”

The first issue of In-Force has three officer interviews, safety tips for the summer, and the Shelby County Jail log, which also appears in the newspaper. The only difference is that InForce features a monthly arrest report instead of a weekly report in the paper—drug arrest from the Texas Department of Public Safety and so much more.

“Working with local law enforcement and our county and district attorney’s office is a delight. I hope that after the people read In-Force for the first time, they will understand that this publication is an excellent way for the local newspaper to help educate, honor, and serve the community,” said Phillips.

InForce, being a new publication, is currently working to distribute the printed copy and set up the official website. “The website is going to be a little bit of an undertaking, but we know what we want and how we want the information to be shared digitally with the community,” said Phillips. “Just give us a week or two, and we’ll get it all done; we had to get the first issue printed for the rest of the dominoes to fall in place.”

Though incomplete, The website will have a current list of all locations where InForce can be purchased. http://www.inforcetx. com.
