What we're tracking: Rain chances are on the decrease over the next few days as low pressure pushes into the far Northeastern US bringing the rain and storms far up north. Chances are on the decrease but showers and weak thunderstorms will be possible this afternoon and tomorrow, just not very likely. Warm to hot temperatures continue into next week as multiple lows forming off the Rockies over the next several days will continue bringing persistent southerly winds. With this daily Gulf wind, warm moisture is returned into the state and some western counties in the Crossroads could reach 100 degrees mid to late next week with heat indices for all of the Crossroads surpassing 100 with very humid dew points present.
Next 24 hours: Another warm, breezy, and mostly cloudy day just like yesterday approaches this afternoon. Highs reach the upper 80s today with wind gusts as high as 25-30 mph. An isolated shower or weak thunderstorm is possible but not likely. Breezy winds continue into tonight and tomorrow but calming down slightly. Mostly cloudy skies also continue into tonight and tomorrow keeping our lows in the low and mid 70s tonight and our highs tomorrow about the same in the upper 80s.
Extended forecast: Highs continue in the upper 80s rising to the 90s possibly as early as this weekend. Mid to upper 90s approach late next week with some Crossroads counties possibly reaching 100 degrees. Heat indices will surely pass 100 all of next week with heavy moisture content in place. Rain chances fully cut off going into the weekend with partly cloudy skies here to stay starting on Saturday. See below for more details in your 7 day extended forecast!
