OHIO COUNTY, W.Va. (WTRF) – Love. Mischief. Shakespeare.

Those are some of the words to describe Oglebay Institute’s Towngate Theatre’s upcoming production.

This weekend’s performance of William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night is the first time in over 40 years that one of his plays was performed in the mainstage season.

The play centers on twins, separated in a shipwreck off the coast of an unfamiliar land.

Stage Manager Cathie Spencer says the atmosphere they’ve created is great, but you’ll need a ticket if you want to see it.

“We have 17 actors in the play. It’s a pretty large cast, but they’re wonderful. Dennis Fox is directing the play. He taught at Ohio University Eastern for 37 years, had headed up their theater and was director there. Now, this is the first time that Towngate has produced a Shakespeare play in 47 years. And Dennis Fox was in the production 47 years ago here at Towngate. So we’re coming full circle.”

You can catch the show at Oglebay Institute’s Towngate Theatre May 3rd, 4th, 10th and 11th at 8:00pm. The show is also this Sunday, May 5th at 3:00pm.

You can purchase tickets online or at the door, and you can also call Towngate at 304-242-7700.
