PHILIPPI, W.Va. (WBOY) — A new food pantry in Philippi has officially opened its doors to help residents of Barbour County fight hunger.

“Bless This Food Pantry” is located at 15227 Barbour County Highway and is looking to provide help for anyone who needs it. The pantry is open Monday through Saturday and only requires people to give their first name, phone number and the number of people in their family. Income information is not required.

“We have been wanting this for a very long time here. I know that people in Barbour County and in other areas are going hungry, they do need food, especially senior citizens. Our senior citizens need help and that’s where we need to put some of our effort and energy is to help them,” Director and Treasurer Nina Daugherty said.

Daugherty emphasized that Bless This Food Pantry is a non-profit organization and that anyone willing to donate their non-perishable food items, money, or time is appreciated and a blessing for someone else.

If you’d like to stop by the food pantry, its hours are Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from noon to 5 p.m.
