(WHTM)– The governor joined gun violence advocates on Wednesday to talk about safer communities.

The governor touted the over $600,000 in grants given to the gun violence investigation and prosecution program through the Luzerne County DA’s office, which looks to combat gun violence and related crimes in the community.

Kathy Lee Toothill is a victim of gun violence and has advocated for safer communities.

“I have to say recovering from gun violence is a life long process I had a really hard time,” Toothill said. “I am so glad to hear will be money available to help the prosecution and help people like me.”
