JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — This week, Onslow County Schools is hosting a reunification training with the I Love U Guys Foundation. Its purpose is to train in reuniting parents and students in school evacuation or emergencies.

School staff and faculty, first responder agencies and local community members were divided into three groups during the exercise simulating how students, parents and staff would follow the standard response protocol.

“If there was a power outage at school. The example they gave in the training, if there was a gas leak nearby. Any of those situations where students had to be brought off campus, we want to make sure they can be reunified with their families quickly and safely,” OCS Chief of Operations Brendan Gartner said.
