BAMBERG COUNTY, S.C. (WJBF) – Bamberg County investigators are currently working to identify a body discovered on Tuesday. This comes amid the ongoing search for a 25-year-old mother who has been missing for nearly a week.

Friends describe 25-year-old Megan Bodiford as outgoing and fun. The mother of three hasn’t been heard from since Thursday, April 25.

“She was a good girl. We had actually just had a long conversation earlier in the week, mother to mother-type thing. I really can’t believe it. I’m in shock really,” a friend who didn’t want to be identified said.

In an incident report, Bodiford confided in a friend, fearing her boyfriend, Jarret Davis, might harm her. She told her friend to call the police if she didn’t hear from her within 30 minutes.

A welfare check was conducted, and Megan’s baby was located. Davis was arrested on domestic violence charges.

“A family member reached out and asked did we have to have permission to search,” The Broken Link Foundation Lead Investigative Analyst Kimberly Kite recalled. “She wanted us to know she was giving us permission to search. She sent a location,” she said.

The Broken Link Foundation, led by law enforcement veteran Kimberly Kite, assists families with missing loved ones. While not directly involved in Megan’s case, they stand ready to help.

“We did not have to really interact at all because Bamberg did a phenomenal job with this case,” she said. “We didn’t have to do a whole lot on an investigation level. We did not have to put a search team together to go out,” she added.

Meanwhile, what investigators called “human remains” were found on April 30 off Turn Ray Road, near Denmark, a few miles from a recent welfare check of Megan. However, authorities have stated that they have not identified who the remains belong to.

The Bamberg County Sheriff’s Office and SLED are investigating.

“No one deserves what happened to her. Period. Regardless of the circumstances, nobody deserves that,” the friend added.
