HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Whether you’re a history buff or you just like a good craft beer, you can find both at Hanover County’s second annual History & Hops event this Friday.

On the evening of Friday, May 3, attendees can turn back the clock and immerse themselves in the American Revolution at the Historic Hanover Courthouse Green at the County Government Complex.

“History & Hops celebrates Hanover’s role in the American Revolution as part of the nation’s 250th anniversary commemoration,” said a county spokesperson in a May 1 press release.

A variety of activities will be available to guests, including re-enactments of Parson’s Cause, historical figures attendees can chat with, horse-drawn carriage rides, fiber-spinning demonstrations and blacksmithing.

Multiple local breweries will be providing craft brews, including:

    • Center of the Universe Brewing Company
    • Armed Forces Brewing Company
    • Midnight Brewery

For those who aren’t interested in the “hops” of History & Hops, there will also be tea tastings.

The event will run from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., with free parking on-site at the courthouse, located at 13182 Hanover Courthouse Road. There will be food available for purchase. If bringing your furry friend, the county asks that they be on a leash.

For more information on the event, reach out to Hanover County by email at parksandrec@hanovercounty.gov or by phone at 804-365-7150.
