An Irish name has been revealed to be the most popular for baby boys in New York . A study conducted by Our Public Records has revealed that Liam is the most popular name for boys born in the state.

Meanwhile, Olivia was revealed to be the most popular name for baby girls. A staggering 1,453 babies were named Liam in 2022, while 919 babies were named Olivia in that same year.

No other Irish names appeared on the list of most popular names for babies in the state of New York . Liam beat out names like Noah, Lucas, Joseph, and Jacob to take the top spot.

On a national level, the most popular male name is still Liam. Across the US, 20,456 baby boys share the Irish name.

Liam is an Irish name that means 'helmet of will', 'protection', or 'strong-willed warrior'. It is a diminutive of the British name William.

Famous Liams include Co Antrim native Liam Neeson , Liam Hemsworth, Liam Gallagher, and Liam Payne.

Although Liam is a popular name in Ireland, it doesn't take the top spot as the favorite for parents in the country. That title goes to the name Jack.
