    BROOKE COUNTY, W.Va. (WTRF)

Brooke County Emergency Management is once again holding a free Project Lifesaver Program training class.

Project Lifesaver began as a way to track individuals that were prone to wandering, like those with Alzheimer’s, Autism, Down Syndrome or dementia.

This training is mostly for first responders but is open to the public if they wish to learn more about the equipment and the services Project Lifesaver provides.

They received a $6,000 grant last year and were able to purchase additional equipment to continue to offer this free service to county residents.

“Important to have the training just so we can get more people trained on using this system. And the more people we have, the better off we’ll be attracting people.”

JEFF LUCK, DEPUTY DIRECTOR WITH BROOKE COUNTY EMA/EMS

This equipment uses radio frequency to locate individuals, not GPS.

The Project Lifesaver Program training is on June 29th and 30th.
