An Idaho man was arrested on an alcohol-related charge last week after officials say he allegedly kicked a bison at Yellowstone National Park.

In a statement from the park service , officials shared that the man is accused of kicking a bison in the leg on West Entrance Road on April 21.

As a result of kicking the massive beasts, the man is said to have suffered minor injuries.

He has since been arrested and charged with being under the influence of alcohol to a degree that may endanger oneself, disorderly conduct as to create or maintain a hazardous condition, approaching wildlife, and disturbing wildlife, park officials said.

A woman who was with the man also found herself in some trouble. Officials shared that she has been charged with driving under the influence, failing to yield, and disturbing wildlife.

Park officials have not released the names of the two individuals, though they did note that both have pleaded not guilty to the charges.

According to Yellowstone’s website, a male bison can weigh around 2,000 pounds, with more than 4,800 living in the park last summer.

This is not the first time a tourist has had an incident with an animal at a national park.

The National Park Service stresses the importance of leaving animals at parks alone, saying that it is illegal to “feed, touch, tease, frighten or intentionally disturb wildlife.”
