Over 300 Manhattan Beach residents were without power after a truck hit and took down multiple poles and power lines Monday morning.

By Monday at 10 p.m., only about 65 customers were impacted.

Surveillance video caught the semi-truck cruising down Oriental Boulevard and Ocean Avenue, when power lines, poles, and street signs were dragged down. Neighbors say the truck made a U-turn taking down more poles on the other side of the street.

Con Edison reported that eight poles were knocked down as well as the power lines attached to those poles. The damage spans about four blocks on Oriental Boulevard. They say power should be fully restored by midnight.

Neighbors in the area told News 12 some of their family members have a medical condition, which requires their medication to be refrigerated.

“Me and my dad are both Type 1 diabetics, so if we have to change our insulin, we can’t open the fridge, everything will go bad, so it’s kind of scary," Matthew Singer said.

The driver did not remain at the scene.

“We could see the powerlines coming down as he’s coming, so it was kind of a domino effect when he took some down and just continued going, and didn’t really stop," Sabina Singer said. "So we are all a little bit interested to know what happened.”

The NYPD is still actively investigating this incident. As of Monday night, they have no details related to the driver or license plate of the truck.
