Xavier Thomas to Cardinals in NFL draft: Instant grade, analysis for 138th pick

Once one of the most sought-after recruits in the nation, Xavier Thomas never quite lived up to the hype. He had down years in 2020 due to complications from COVID-19 and 2022 due to a foot injury. Still, scouts see an explosive pass rusher who can affect plays and defend the run, albeit not always with consistency. Thomas didn't put up huge sack numbers over six seasons at Clemson, but he could give the Cardinals another depth piece at a position they hoped to address. Thomas might not have the same kind of versatility as others at his position, but the Cardinals will coach that into him. He joins an already deep group of outside linebackers that all gained game experience last season.
