Crawford County high schoolers explore careers at job fair

NORTH CRAWFORD, Wis. (WKBT) -- High schoolers from around Crawford County got the chance kick start their careers on Friday.

Students from 4 rural schools had the opportunity to meet with over 50 potential employers and colleges at the 2nd annual Crawford County Career and Community Job Fair.

The day started with a presentation from a keynote speaker then students picked which of the 17 breakout groups they wanted to join. Some of those being Agriculture, Military and culinary arts.

MacKenzie Knutson is an Agriculture Education Teacher, she explained why these events are so important in rural communities.

"When you get into bigger cities, they can go to all these different industries really quick in their backyards where us rural school districts have to travel a little bit further. So, trying to bring all of those into one area and one building is really important to our team here," said Knutson.

The job fair wasn't exclusive to only students, anyone could attend. An estimated 200 students attended the fair.
