East Columbia Library Park is getting redesigned

East Columbia Library Park is getting upgraded.

Howard County Executive Calvin Ball cut the ribbon for the new design on Thursday.

The East Columbia Library Park will include a pavilion, playground, two fields, basketball courts, and walking paths.

It'll be located right next to Lake Elkhorn Middle School, "This location is really important, because it's kind of like the missing link that brings the library, the park, the village center...the lake, and the schools. So, it all ties together in one central location,” explained Andy Stacks, with the Columbia Association Board of Directors.

The revamping comes as the needs and wants of the surrounding community evolve.

The hope is the changes made will make the park more inclusive.
