OPINION: Vote Kamprath for Washington County commissioner

As residents of Washington County, we are at a critical juncture. Our decisions will determine whether we move towards sustainable future growth or remain mired in current challenges.

My name is Jenny Kamprath, and I am running for Washington County Commissioner District 1. I represent a fresh bold approach to governance that Washington County needs.

My platform is not just a series of promises but based on a positive common-sense change. My business background makes me uniquely qualified to cut through the noise to a solution.

I am committed to working within our budget, ensuring no overspending, and advocating against new or raises in taxes. My approach to affordable housing, by expanding the urban growth boundary and streamlining building processes, offers a sustainable path forward but also takes into account the need to balance and preserve farmland and open spaces.

Moreover, my stance on tackling drug addiction and homelessness by promoting accountable, result-oriented programs is both compassionate and pragmatic. It's time we had a strong leader who has the lived experience to deal with drug addiction and homelessness to enact policy that embodies common sense and transparency as to how and where our tax dollars are being spent.

With my background, I offer unique insights to tackle these important issues and urge my fellow citizens in District 1 to consider the future of our community. A vote for me is a vote to give those in my district a voice for smaller government, low taxes, and a more transparent, accountable Washington County.
