Warren County awards Jasmine Luellen for her courage

LAKE GEORGE, N.Y. ( NEWS10 )– In observance of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week, the Warren County District Attorney’s Office honored Jasmine Luellen’s strength after her fiancé and son were killed by an intoxicated motorcyclist in 2022. Luellen was presented the Courage Award and other Warren County leaders were recognized for their work with crime victims.

Luellen’s 38-year-old fiancé, Jamie Persons, and 8-year-old son, Quinton Delgadillo, died on June 12, 2022. The driver, who was under the influence of alcohol and marijuana, left the roadway while speeding, traveled onto the Warren County Bikeway, and hit the victims.

The ceremony at Lake George Elementary School also paid tribute to law enforcement, first responders, medical professionals, and civilians who helped Luellen and the rest of her family both that day and during the prosecution of the case. She exuded courage when she saved her infant son during the crash and when she took the stand during prosecution.

The Warren County Board of Supervisors passed a proclamation on Friday, April 19 that was ready by Chairman Kevin Geraghty at the ceremony. The proclamation thanked those who assist crime victims, declaring April 21 to 27 National Crime Victims’ Rights Week in Warren County.

District Attorney Jason Carusone said the county was fortunate to have staff who offer unwavering assistance to crime victims. “No one chooses to be a victim of crime, but when crime occurs we need to do all we can to support them,” he said.

The defendant was sentenced in February to 15 years to life in state prison. The Warren County Crime Victims Memorial located on the grounds of the Warren County Municipal Center will add bricks engraved with the names of local crime victims.
