3 helicopters called to Darke County head-on crash

DARKE COUNTY, Ohio ( WDTN ) — Three helicopters transported a woman and two young children after a serious injury crash on Thursday morning.

According to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office, a head-on crash prompted three helicopters to arrive at the scene of a crash at State Route 121 and Weavers Ft. Jefferson Road. Deputies first responded to the scene just before 8 a.m. on April 25.

One dead after fatal Thursday morning crash

Preliminary investigation determined a 2003 Buick Lesabre was traveling northbound on SR-121 when the driver attempted a left-turn onto Weavers Ft. Jefferson Road. The vehicle collided head-on with a 2013 Hyundai Accent that was driving southbound on SR-121.

The Buick driver, a 42-year-old woman, was treated and released at the scene.

The 24-year-old female driver of the Hyundai was extricated from the vehicle and transported to Miami Valley Hospital by CareFlight. She is listed in serious condition.

Two passengers of the Hyundai, a six-year-old and a two-year-old were also transported to Dayton Children’s Hospital by MedFlight helicopters. Both children were wearing child safety seats. They are both listed in serious condition.

The DCSO Accident Reconstruction Team also responded to the scene for further investigation. Investigation is ongoing.
